App development is changing rapidly. As a solo creator building a health and biofeedback tool, intellectual honesty matters to me and I want to be completely open about where artificial intelligence fits into my work, where it does not, and why.
1An Assistive Bridge: Neurodiversity and Communication
Being neurodivergent means my brain often processes ideas non-linearly. The concepts and intent are always there, but translating them into polished code and clear external communication has historically taken massive mental bandwidth and friction.
For me, AI functions first and foremost as assistive technology, a cognitive scaffold that helps me untangle thoughts, organize complex code, and overcome communication/confidence barriers that used to hold me back.
When you read text on this site or see app updates, the ideas, principles, and lived experiences are mine. AI helps me edit, refine, and articulate them clearly.
2Engineering and Development
I have worked in Information Technology for most of my adult life, learning Python through hands-on industry projects. Because of that background, I do not blindly accept generated output. I understand the underlying system architecture and signal processing pipelines.
I treat AI coding tools (primarily Claude and Google Gemini) as pair programmers in my workspace. In development, I use them to:
- Catch syntax errors and edge cases.
- Help write and audit TypeScript types and math formulas
- Explore architectural tradeoffs and refactor code.
All code is reviewed, tested, and verified by me.
3Media and Visual Assets
Visual design communicates tone and feeling. As an independent builder without a full design team, I use generative image tools to create editorial concept images and visual metaphors for articles and updates.
I curate and direct these assets to match the aesthetic and mood. They serve as visual illustration, never as a replacement for genuine human thought or creativity.
4Inside the App: Zero AI, Zero Chatbots
Sanctuary & Privacy First
There is a crucial difference between using AI tools in the workspace to build a app and embedding AI inside the product you use. The Re app contains no machine learning surveillance, and no chatbots.
- Zero AI runtime: No generative text or automated advice runs inside the app.
- Deterministic science: Your biofeedback scores come from established mathematical formulas and peer-reviewed physiology.
Summary
AI is here to stay, and personally, I hope humanity embraces the positive use cases, such as curing cancer, and cuts back on the less positive ones, like flooding social media with millions of ChatGPT flyers that all look the same.
I will continue to use AI as an assistive tool to plan and build with confidence. But rest assured, the app architecture, science, and the final decisions remain entirely human.
Cheers,
Blair
